Common Questions

What animals do you care for?

Dogs and cats. Each booking includes two pets, and I can care for up to four (or three dogs over 40 lb), confirmed at our meet & greet. All pets must be current on vaccinations and flea and tick prevention.

What's the difference between a Standard Stay and a Dedicated Stay?

Both mean I live in your home from the time you leave until you're home, there every night from 7 PM to 7 AM. On a Standard Stay I'm never away more than 6 hours during the day, so your dog always gets a midday break. On a Dedicated Stay I'm never away more than 3 hours. Dedicated Stays are often best for senior and/or anxious pets, and may be ideal for longer trips.

How will I hear from you while I'm away?

You choose:
Every visit: a photo and a short note.
Daily report card: meals, walks, mood and one great photo.
Quiet check-in: a simple "all's well" each day.

Want to share the stay with family? Add a Stay Journal, a private photo page they can visit any time ($25 per stay, included with stays of 7 nights or more).

Are longer trips discounted?

Yes. Stays of 14 nights or more are 10% off the total. Holiday nights stay at full price.

Do you have a referral program?

Yes. When a friend you refer completes their first stay, you get a $50 credit and they get $25 off. Refer three friends in a year and your next Standard Stay is free. Your friend just mentions your name when they book. Details

Can you give my pet medication?

Yes, oral medications such as pills and liquids, given exactly as written on your Pet Information Sheet. I don't give injections.

Do you have pets of your own?

No. Nothing comes into your home with me, and your pets never meet a stranger's dog on my clothes or in my car.

How do you handle keys, codes and alarms?

Keys, lockbox codes and alarm codes stay private and secure. I never share them, and I return keys at the end of your booking or whenever you ask.

Are you insured?

Yes. I'm insured and bonded through Pet Sitters Associates, and I've passed a background check. Every booking comes with a written care agreement.

What happens in an emergency?

I contact you and your emergency contact right away. If I can't reach you, I take your pet to your vet or the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital, up to a spending limit you set in the agreement. A medical release form, completed as part of our client agreement, will ensure I'm able to get your pet the care they need in a timely fashion.

Do you work with cameras in the home?

Of course. Just let me know where any cameras are before your trip. The agreement asks that there be none in the guest bedroom or bathroom I use.

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as you know your dates. Holiday weeks fill 4 to 8 weeks ahead, and stays that include a holiday have a 3-night minimum. Bookings made less than 72 hours ahead have a $20 short-notice fee.

What if my trip runs late?

Let me know as soon as you can. Extra nights or visits are billed at your booking's regular rate (holiday rates still apply), whenever I'm available.

Which areas do you serve?

Seattle, the North end (Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace) and the Eastside (Bellevue, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Medina, Clyde Hill, Yarrow Point). On the Eastside I offer stays only, no drop-ins. More on the North End and Eastside pages, and prices by area on the rates page.

How do I pay?

Credit card (3% processing fee), debit card, Venmo, Zelle, cash or check. A 50% deposit holds your dates, and the balance is due 48 hours before the stay.

What's your cancellation policy?

For stays, cancel 14 or more days before your start date for a full refund. From 7 to 13 days, the 50% deposit is kept; under 7 days, the full amount is due. Drop-ins can be cancelled free up to 72 hours ahead. For holiday bookings, the deposit is non-refundable and the full amount is due inside 14 days. A kept deposit becomes credit toward a booking within 12 months. You'll get the full service agreement after our meet & greet.
